The pull stud (retention knob) is the strategig connectionbetween machine and tool holder, incase of breakage, it could cause serious damages to the machine and above all wounds the worker. In the machine builders CEE norms, the pull stud is considered as extremely dangerous and therefore carefuly tested.

IMS use two different types of pull stud.

UNCERTIFIED PULL STUDS

The pull stud is steel made according to the required tolerances and can be produced for anyone. Should it break during the process, the criminal and third-party liability for the possible damage rest entirely on the user and to determinate the origin of the pull stud is legally impossible.

CERTIFIED PULL STUDS

A work piece steel made similar to the uncertified one, but marked with the manufacturer name and production's lot number. The maker has to keep by his own premises the docummentation of the used material, the certificate of the heat treatment and a sample for every lot. If the pull stud is unlike the requested specification, the criminal and third-party liability rest entirely with the manufacturer. Otherwise, the responsability falls, since everything has been done to avoid the failure.
